Layoso, who topped the qualifying round, survived an unpredictable knockout final game.
In the top 4 showdown, Layoso beat Wilbert Yu of Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA), 214-186.
In the other lane, Luther Tapaya of BTA outsmarted CETBA/Prima's Jomar Jumapao, 213-207, to set up a title duel against Layoso.
In the championship, Layoso toppled 212 pinfalls to Tapaya, 212-188 to seize the crow.
Layoso may have missed another perfect game in the elimination round like what he did in the BTA Classic last year, but he still has something else to celebrate with the Cebuanos in the Sinulog as he succeeded in keeping his title that went along with the P30,000 top prize plus a trophy.
Tapaya took home P20,000, while Yu and Jumapo received P10,000 and P5,000, respectively.
Organized by the Cebu Inter-Family Youth Association (CIFYA) in cooperation with Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA) and Metro Gaisano, the event drew a total of 80 entries from different bowling clubs here and in Manila.
