Two running events set here next month

There will be two road running events next month with the staging of the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Friendship Run on February 25 at the Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds.

Prior to the Friendship Run, Cebu's first marathon in 17 years will be staged on February 18.

The M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-presented event will feature 10K, five and three-kilometer races.

The 10K run will be divided in five categories:men and women's open, masters A and B and the golden boys.

The masters A is open for runners aged 40 to 50 years old and the masters B for 50-59 years old footracers. The golden boys is intended for those 60-years-old and above runners.

The 5K run, on the other hand, will be for an open class for both boys and girls, while the 3K run will be for fun runners and 12-years-old and below entries.

Registration fee for the Friendship Run if pegged at P150 and this entitles the participant to a singlet and some freebies.

Organized by the Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE) led by Joel Baring, the race if also supported by Globe, Avia, Nature's Spring, Yayoy's Grill and Resto Bar, Pepsi, and Seiko.

Part of the event's proceeds will be donated to the Bantay Bata 163 Foundation.
