ASEAN Fun Run listing still going on

- Rafael S. Alas III -
Close 300 runners already confirmed their participation in the Cebu City ASEAN 10-kilometer Fun Run, which will kick off this Sunday in front of the Cebu Provincial Capitol building.

But the number of entries is expected to increase as registration is still going on at the office of the Cebu City Sports Commission at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Entry fee is pegged at P120.

But staff at the sports commission said the listing of entries will be close on Friday to observe an ASEAN Summit-related holiday and will resume on Saturday, which will also be the day for the distribution of race numbers and final briefing.

Cebu City Councilor Sylvan "Jack" Jakosalem said the event this Sunday aims to give the delegates of the ASEAN Summit a chance to physically unwind after days of rigorous mental work.

A separate category is reserved for delegates of the ASEAN Summit with the winners to get trophies.

The other categories are the open category for both men and women, Masters A category (40-59 years old), Masters B category (60 yrs. Old and above), and the Executives.

The winners in the open divisions in both the men and women's will win P10,000 cash and a trophy while the second placers will receive P8,000 and a trophy. The third placers will be awarded P6,000 and trophy.

The fourth to the 30th placers will also receive cash prizes and medals.

In the Masters divisions, both A and B categories will be P5,000 plus trophy for the champion, P4,000 plus trophy for the second placer and P3,000 and a trophy for the third placers.

Also, fourth to 20th will each be awarded cash prizes and medals.
