Fortuner overcomes Arthro in Danao friendly

The M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Jewelers-manned Fortuner passed through the wringer before pulling off a 73-72 squeaker over the gritty Arthro Kontra Arthritis-backed Tribu Sugbu in a goodwill match last Saturday at the multi-million Danao Sports and Civic Center in Danao City.

Four of the five Jewelers submitted double figures although Danao's hometown idol Alano Caputolan scored only seven.

Three-point hotshot Stephen Padilla and Aldrin Ocañada, both products of the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers, combined for 25 points for the Jewelers, while Woodrow Enriquez and Marlon Piodo chipped in 10 markers apiece.

Arthro Kontra Arthritis was led by Doroteo Almacin with 12 points, while the comebacking Lowell Briones added 11. Marvin Mercado and Morsie Akad had also 10 points each for Arthro, which is expected to join in the Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association (MVBA) Sinulog Cup late this month.
