DURAbend Cycling Showdown today in Busay
January 7, 2007 | 12:00am
Hundreds of mountainbikers will vie for the top honors in the 2007 DURAbend Cycling Showdown happening this morning at Willie's Place in Busay.
This is the first mountainbike event of the year and so the organizing Big Al's Production are expecting no less than 200 pedalpushers to join the battle.
This is also the first time for Alan "Big Al" Choachuy to include a downhill event in the history of any of his organized events.
With that, he is making sure that there will be a standby ambulance and medics in case there will be accidents especially in the downhill.
The downhill event will be divided in two, namely the beginners and open class.
Before the downhill action, it's going to be the cross-country riders that will be showcasing their wares in a circuit racing.
Top Cebuano cross-country rider, Niño Surban, is the athlete to beat in the senior open while the other divisions will be anybody's game.
The other classes are golden boys, fatboys, beginners, executive, senior open, junior, veteran and masters.
Big Al's Production will also be introducing another scheme for the awarding, with the top performers of each class to be awarded right after their race and no longer after all classes are done.
Winners will go home with cash, trophy or medals and an event jersey.
The event is also supported by Classical Touch, YKK Trading and Seiko as the official timer of the race.
