Felmar, Julie's Bakeshop, Samsung win in Atan Cup

-
Felmar Enterprises went off to a sizzling start by whipping AC Sports of Archie Baba, 98-84, in last Sunday's triple-header of the newly started Punta Princesa Sports Association (PPSA)-Atan Guardo Sinulog Cup basketball tournament at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Gym in Brgy. Punta Princesa, this city.

The 6-foot-4 Kokoy Astudillo, a former CDC Stallion, topped with 18 points, even as five others dished out double figures for Felmar, which dominated the game from start to finish and never looked backed after mounting a twin-digit edge after three quarters.

Keith Dinoy, Eddie Ybañez, Heng Ortiz, Dave de la Cruz and Jumie Ararao combined for 63 points underscoring Felmar's balanced offensive.

Veteran center Esteban Cesar Ortega and Cary Sanchez paced AC Sports with 15 points apiece, while Alfie Lansang added 12 in a losing cause.

In the second game, Julie's Bakeshop drubbed Atan Guardo-Lemon, 91-77, for its first win in two starts.

Cito Campus scattered a game-high 26 points, while 6-foot-2 Mark Gamallo finished 12 points, all in the pivotal fourth quarter that sealed Julie's Bakeshop win. Campus was heavily backed up by Lando Tabalin, Audie Abejo and Jimmy Carcueva with 34 points combined.

Mon Ceballos led Atan Guardo- Lemon with 30 points followed by Batoy Cañete with 13.

In the main game, Samsung TV logged its first win by trouncing Atan Guardo- Black, 87-82.

The TV makers dictated the tempo of the match and were ahead by as much as 12 points, 65-53, heading into the final period. Atan Guardo-Black staged a last dicth rally, but Samsung TV proved to be a tough nut to crack at crunchtime to secure the win.

Flashy pointguard Lito Navarro and Robert Abasolo lead Samsung's scoring rampage with 16 markers each, while Ric Arias chipped in 12.

Rex Gilbuela and Ting Bacalla led Atan Guardo-Black with 16 points apiece, while Tin Atillo added 14.
