Silliman gatecrashes WLC's home debut in VAAA

The Silliman University (SU) Stallions launched a furious attack in the second quarter and then unleashed a powerful endgame kick to spoil the home debut of Western Leyte College (WLC) Mustangs via a 76-58 rout in the Visayas Amateur Athletic Association (VAAA) men's basketball tournament the other day at the Ormoc Superdome.

The WLC Mustangs of Ormoc City were in fighting mood only in the first period when it took a 15-13 lead as the Stallions staged a fierce fight-back in the succeeding quarter to mount a dozen-point lead at halftime, 36-24.

The Mustang cut the deficit down to only seven, 47-54, but the Stallions again went back to their usual business and closed the game with a back-breaking 22-11 rally for the 18-point blowout.

It was Silliman's third victory in the tournament founded by Cebu City Councilor and M. Lhuillier head coach Raul "Yayoy" Alcoseba and supported by M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala, Nature's Spring and Cokaliong Shipping Lines.
