Ending speculations of a possible retirement after his devastating loss to Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao, Mexican legend Erik Morales declared he wants one more world title fight before hanging up his gloves for good.
According to fightnews.com, Morales is not planning a "goodbye fight" against lesser opposition and that the revered Tijuana warrior wants to end his career fighting for the WBC lightweight title in June or July next year in an attempt to break the Mexican record he shares with Julio Cesar Chavez of winning world titles in three different divisions.
"I will not make a goodbye tour," Morales told fightnews.com. "I will only fight for the world lightweight title... then win or lose, I will go away from boxing."
Morales was beaten to the pulp by Pacquiao during their third and final encounter last Sunday at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pacquiao decked Morales midway in the second round and floored the hapless Mexican two more times in the third round.
After he was sent down at the seat of his pants for the third time, Morales looked at his corner and then shook his head no, prompting referee Vic Drakulich to wave off the bout and award a stunning knockout victory for Pacman at 2:57 of the third round.
