South, Mimosa lead USC-PTCA caging

The USC-PTCA South and the Mimosa Boutique scored contrasting victories last Sunday in the resumption of the USC-BEDSC PTA, Inc. basketball tournament at the USC South Campus covered court.

The tandem of Alaric Nazareno and Edwin Alfeche, who both finished with 14 points, helped in lifting the USC-PTCA South to a 67-54 victory over the Kawsa while the Mimosa Boutique spilled 7-UP, 78-71.

Meanwhile, the USC PTA North debuted with a 73-68 win over Convergys in the first match of a Sunday triple-header.

The USC-PTCA South now led Group A with 2-0 win-loss record while Mimosa had also a 2-0 win-loss record to pace Group B.

James Lu and ex-USC Warrior Lou Regidor had 21 and 19 points, respectively, for Mimosa as it outsmarted the Paul Maninang-led 7-UP.

It was ex-UC star Julius Gastador, who led the PTA North with 19 points while Jun Paca topscored with 16 points for the 1-1 Convergys.
