Codino tops First MEPZCEM Run

A former varsity player of a Cebu university topped the First Mactan Export Processing Zone Chamber of Exporters and Manufacturers (MEPZCEM) Fun Run at the PEZA 1 Administration building in Lapu-Lapu City early yesterday.
Jeffrey Codino of the University of Cebu won the top plum in the men's division while the distaff side saw Gladys Sumile taking the honors.
Codino finished the 5-kilometer race in 20 minutes and 11.03 seconds clocking.
The more favored Hedelito Ngujo of Timex settled second in 20:21.75 as 1st Glory's Romeo Anuncido was third in 21:06.67.
The fourth to 10th placers in the men's division in this all-MEPZ run were Malwin Teñabroa of Christ (21:25.08), Pentax's Ronaldo Carbon (21:39.14), Fairchild's Roger Tuñacao (21:42.84), Draka's Michael Dumael (22:00.27), Timex's Ronaldo Babatid (22:11.53) and Toritso's Wildrefo Edar in 22:37.16.
On the other hand, Sumile registered a time of 26 minutes to lead the domination of TIMEX runners in the field.
Timex even came out very dominant in the women's side as six others also gaining entry in the top 10 including second placer Ethelene Albaño in 28:43, Josephine Padillo at fourth in 29:41, Taciana Malingin at sixth place in 30:59.98, Griselda Toring at seventh in 31:13, Julith Bautista at ninth in 31:31 and Charito Fuentes at 10th spot in 31:39.
Matluster's Marie Joy Alilin was third with 29:35 while teammates Anelisa Gabutero, who had 30:56 was fifth and Charis Gilbuena was eight in 31:21.
Meanwhile, Ngujo was the fastest in the Timex Joggers Club category headed by Enrique "Et" Del Rosario.
Joining Ngujo in the top 10 were Ronaldo Babatid, Stephen Caballero, Edmund Parba, Cosme Palaran, Jose Saldy Alkalde, Francis Pongasi, Ramses Borinaga, Mardy Calauran and Japhet Alqueza.
Sumile had a double victory as she ruled the distaff side together with Ethylene Albaño, Joy Padillo, Taciana Malingin, Griselda Toring, Rachel Baguio, Charito Fuentes, Ma. Salora Abuda, Patricia Tumulak and Livina Good.
The Biggest delegation award went to Timex Philippines after fielding in close to 500 runners among the 1,300 entries while Metro Wear Incorporated got the Liveliest delegation award among the 39 companies that saw action.
Ronald Mudlen at 56 years-old was named the fastest among the young at hearts while Lito Pescante was the heaviest delegate with 240 pounds in the event sponsored by the Halsangz, Celestica, Iwakami, Fairchild, Imcon World, Pentax, Taiyo Yuden, Timex, Hankyu, Eight-to Eight Catering, Chase Dental and MCRI.
