Noy Cacoy named into 8th Hall of Fame

- Gabby G. Malagar -
Eskrima Grandmaster Ciriaco "Cacoy" Cañete was enshrined into the Hall of Fame for martial arts during the 6th annual Martial Arts History Museum last October 14, 2006 in Sta. Clarita, Los Angeles, California.

It was the eighth Hall of Fame recognition received by Cañete in his illustrious career as martial arts expert propagating arnis or stick-fighting in different parts of the world.

Seven of his Hall of Fame awards were given to him in the United States, one of the countries which made a lot of recognition of his expertise while the other one was in Cebu where he was enshrined into the Cebu City Hall of Fame in 1997.

Three of his Hall of Fame awards were given in Los Angeles, two in St. Louis, Missouri and one each in Texas, Ohio and Cebu.

Cañete received a beautifully crafted trophy during his latest enshrinement together with five other Asians namely Ark Wong, Buck Sam Kong, Wally Jay, Wen May Yu and Tosishiro Obata.

The Martial Arts History Museum, aimed at preserving the art, culture, music and history of martial arts, is headed by American-born Japanese Michael Matsuda.
