CETBA bowlers pull off 1-2-3 sweep in Bacolod

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -
The Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (CETBA) junior bets bested veteran bowlers from other clubs to fill up four of the top five spots in the Negros Tenpin Bowling Open Tournament recently at Lopue's East in Bacolod City.

The 14-year-old Christopher Foyle of Marie Ernestine School masterminded CETBA's scorching charge by seizing the championship in the masters event.

Foyle waxed hot right at the start of the eight-game series and hung on to the top spot in all games.

Foyle, who had an average of 229 pinfalls per game, pocketed P30,000 plus a gold-plated trophy for his feat.

Sacred Heart School-Jesuit's John Gasataya, on the other hand, showed great recovery as he crawled back from 28th place in the qualifying round on the way to taking the second place honors with an average of 216 pinfalls per game.

Gasataya got P20,000 and a silver trophy.

It was indeed a masterful sweep 1-2-3 for the Cebuanos with the 15-year-old Jake Yap winding up third with 206 pinfalls per game. He pocketed P10,000 and a broze trophy.

Jomar Jumapao, also from SHS-J, landed at a decent fifth place to get P4,000.

ITBA's Ruben Ramirez prevented CETBA from a complete sweep of the top five honors by placing fourth overall.

Rounding up the top 10 finishers were Dennis Ramirez of SLETBA, STAI's Teody Chavoso and Jimmy Yap and Papio de Dios of SLETBA.

James Zuluaga made it to the masters event but failed to break into the top 10.

The young CETBA keglers are trained by Lolito Sy. They enjoyed all-out support from CETBA president Ben Miranda in their Bacolod trip.
