The Sta. Fe volleybelles successfully invaded the town of Medellin as they emerged Cluster IV champion in the 2nd Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball Cup at the Medellin Sports Complex yesterday.
Sta. Fe, the sub-cluster champion, who topped the sub-cluster elimination against Bantayan and Madridejos the other day, had host Medellin as its final opponent.
The visitors prevailed with a 25-15, 25-23 win over the host to take the P20,000 cash prize while Medellin pocketed P10,000.
Medellin made it to the finals after winning over Tabogon, 25-23, 11-25, 25-22 and San Remegio, 25-20, 25-8.
Tabogon, for its part, chalked one win against San Remegio, 25-14, 25-10.
But even with the defeat, Medellin will still join Sta. Fe to the finals of the Guv Gwen Unity Cup to be held in Mandaue City.
The other qualifiers are Cluster I champion, Talisay City along with runner-up Minglanilla, Cluster II with Badian and Boljoon and Cluster III with Toledo and Balamban.
There are two more cluster battles left and the next stop will be Danao City.
