Lumindas, Penales rule Gawad Kalinga footrace

Leizel Lumindas-Getaruelas rebounded back even as Joseph Penales scored another victory yesterday in the 2006 Gawad Kalinga 10K Fun Run held at the Ayala Business Park.
Lumindas-Getaruelas, who failed to finish the 2006 Kota Kinabalu Climbathon in Malaysia late last month, is back in familiar ground as she topped the women's division and she was trailed by Madelyn Carter.
Penales, on the other hand, reaffirmed his dominance over Cebuano bets when the Bohol native took the men's open title.
He was followed by Eugene Delposo of University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and Adonis Singson. The fourth placer was Mendel Lopez, also of USPF.
The 5K run for students, on the other hand, was topped by Miljune and Gilbert Luterte in the boys division while Dianne Beronia of USPF ruled the distaff side.
Taking the third place honors in the boys division was Joel Delposo of Badian and Carl Jeannette Malazarte of University of Cebu and teammate Romnick Lumindas were the fourth and fifth placer.
Also, Mark Edar of UC was the first placer in the boys 3K run. - RSAIII
