Lancers face Adamson in Champions League
October 9, 2006 | 12:00am
Reining UAAP MVP Kenneth Bono of the Adamson University (AdU) Falcons is expected to show his stuff against Rino Berame of the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers in their first encounter today in the 4th Collegiate Champions League at the UST gym in España, Metro Manila.
Playing in a hostile land before a hostile crowd, the Lancers is expected to employ its vast experience, which made them win the crown for six consecutive years in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) basketball event here.
But neither the Falcons nor the Lancers will be playing with much advantage when it comes to familiarity of the line-up because this is the first time that they will meet in the Champions League.
Bono and Cebuano shooter Patrick Cabahug are expected to carry the offensive load for the Falcons along with some other veterans such as Leo Canuday and Marvin Poloyapoy.
Bono and Cabahug were members of he UAAP All-Stars, which defeated the NCAA All-Stars the other night, 83-78, in the Bantay Bata 168 exhibition game at the Philsports Arena.
On the other hand, Berame will draw support from Jayford Rodriguez, Morsie Akad, Eduardo Arda, Jaysar Esperat and Von Harry Lanete.
Rookies like Ritchum Dennison, Chris Victor Diputado, Frangel Omolon, Lucky Pito and Bomber Sendrijas cannot also be discounted because they are dangerous when left unguarded.
