The Team Cebu City-Football was off to a bitter start after losing its first assignment in the 2006 Visayas Regional Men's Under-19 Championships at West Negros College football field in Bacolod City yesterday.
Cebu Football Association's representatives in the National Under-19 qualifying event was helpless against the Iloilo Football Association, 1-3.
Jomar Lestingio broke the ice, 10 minutes from the start of the game to give the Ilonggos the advantage.
Instead of putting up better defense as well as improving its offense, the Cebuanos failed to safeguard its camp and allowed Rellen Jover to bang in two goals with his first in the 39th minute and another one two minutes left in the first half.
Down with 3-0, coach Francis Ramirez pushed his wards to do better, but, as the game resumed, only Michael Daniel Sharpe was able to save TCC as she made the lone goal at the start of the second half.
Earlier, host Negros Occidental scored a 1-all draw against Negros Oriental.
NOFA's bets made one in the first half, but NORFA fired back to end up in a draw.
Today's Team Cebu City, supported by the Cebu City Sports Commission, hopes to bounce back when they meet Negros Occidental at 3 pm.
Prior to that, NORFA tackles Iloilo Football Association at 1pm.
