CIS bags two titles in Aboitiz bootfest

The Cebu International School (CIS) emerged as the only team among the age-groupers to win two titles after two days of competition in the 2006 Aboitiz National Football Festival at the Cebu City Sports Center.

CIS dominated the girls 12 and 17-under age classification.

In the girls 12-under, CIS beat PaBol Football Club, 1-0, behind the leadership of MVP awardee Janine Negrosa.

PaBol's Team B ended third after posting a 3-0 win over San Roque Football Club.

In the girls 17-under, CIS got past Juanito TXO, 2-0, to claim the crown. CIS's Monica Moraza copped the coveted MVP honors.

The visiting Foundation University of Dumaguete claimed the third place trophy after a 2-0 win against San Roque.

The rest of the other titles were distributed to different squads, with Hiroshi and Springdale winning in the players 6 and 8 categories, respectively.

Negros Occidental FA-Don Bosco-Victorias topped the boys 14, while Pepito Football Club came out the best in the players 10.

It was DTBC which took the top honors in the boys 12 after defeating Pepito FC, 2-1.

The University of San Carlos-Technological Center also stepped into the winner's podium after winning the boys 17-under following a 2-0 shutout of Negros Occidental-Don Bosco.

Pepito's Mark Joseph Arranguez, DBTC's Miguel Caindec, Negros Occidental's Jayvee Lacson,and University of San Carlos' Cliff Bacolod joined Moraza, Negros'Curt Cuizon and Sabin Veloso in the elite circle after being named the best players in their respective divisions.

Action in the men and women's open along with the men's 36-above class are still being contested as of this writing.

A total of 216 teams participated in the two-day event sanctioned by the Philippine Football Federation and organized by the Cebu Football Association.
