Perfect game propels Layoso to Bowlingplex Classic glory

Manila Tenpin Bowling Association/Henrich's Benshir Layoso hit a perfect game to rule the masters event of the Bowlingplex Classic 2006 at the Gaisano Bowlingplex in Brgy. Banilad,this city.
Layoso knocked only 169 pins in the first game, but steadily improved his performance as the game progressed, nailing 215, 235, 191, 216 and 180 pins in the next five games of the eight-game series.
In the crucial seventh game, Layoso left rest catching up breath in between frames as they watched Layoso's attempt of a perfect game or scoring 300 pins.
To everyone's delight, Layoso accomplished the feat to pocket the P50,000 prize for a perfect game in this Skygo Marketing Corporation-sponsored event.
That energized Layoso despite scoring only 188 pinfalls in the final game.
Overall, Layoso nailed a total of 1,694 pinfalls to win the title, while BTA bets Nathaniel Go,Edmund San Jose and Junjun Gothong posted a 2-3-4 finish. CETBA/Prima's Edison Ho settled for fifth place and squad I's top bowler, Clarence Tiu, finished sixth.
Go had 1,679 pins to pocket P20,000 for second place, while San Jose toppled down 1,657 pins to take the second prize of P10,000. Gothong's 1,653 pins earned him P7,000, while Ho (1,652) and Tiu 1,490) received P4,000 and P3,000, respectively.
Rounding up the Top 10 are BTA/Prima bet Nikki Tan (1,634) RP team member Joonee Gatchalian (1,607), Anton Co (1,599) and CETBA/Prima's John Gasataya (1,598).
