Team of Lacustales rules Corn Tee Invitational

The team of Vivencio 'Ven' Lacustales, Arnold Tan, and Joselito 'Toto' Parco bagged the overall title of the 9th Corn Tee Invitational Tournament of Club Filipino Incorporada de Cebu, which came to a fitting close yesterday in Pulangyuta, Danao City.

The trio scored a two-day total of 241 points to run away with the title by shooting rounds of 120 and 121. Each team is composed of a member and two guests and the Modified Stableford Scoring System was used for the event backed mainly by San Miguel Corporation.

First runner-up honors went to the team of Ricarte Santos, Marlou Velasquez, and Masaya Hishida with a total of 233 points on rounds of 112 and 121.

Second runner-up via the countback over two other teams was the squad composed of Jun Zosa, Alex Garcia, and Bobby Barria with 231 (115-116). They won the higher prize by virtue of having the highest second day score of the three teams tied.

Third runner-up was the team of Ben Tio Peng Seng, Tony Skimihua, and Peter Yang also with 231 (116-115).

Fourth runner-up was the team of Ronald Alfeche, Jufil Sato, and Butch Macachor also with 231 on rounds of 117 and 114.

The best first day score award went to the team of Alvin Alazas, Erwin Siao, and Francis Dy with 116 points while runner-up honors went to father and son Rudy and Gassy Lizares with Jonji Chiongbian scoring 115.

The best second day output was logged by the team of Rolando alberto, Noel Abad, and Romeo 'Boy' Alegre with 121 while runner-up honors went to Ed Franco, Boy Castillo, and Bart vergara with 120.

The winners in the overall honors were not anymore eligible for the day and individual prizes.

Abel de Manuel scored the best two-day individual performance with 85 and Ken Nakada scoring 84 was runner-up.

Dr. Tony San Juan had the best first day score of 43 points winning via the countback over runner-up Peter Militante.

Robert Limyutiong scored 50 points to log the best score for the second day while Ed Lising made 47 to finish as runner-up. The tournament however set a cap of 45 points as the maximum score that a player can contribute to his team.

Three players will share the Skygo motorcycle, which was offered as eagle prize. All of them scored an eagle three on the par-5 hole No. 11, which features a sharp dog-leg right. They are Mark Michael, Jong Gorres, and Bart Vergara.

Ricarte Santos, the overall chairman of the tournament thanked all sponsors who made the event possible and also club president Renato V. Osmeña for his all-out support.

Casino Filipino-Cebu was the Diamond Sponsor of this event while Cebu Mitsumi, Duros Development Corp., Newtrends International Corp., and Profood International Corp. were the Gold Sponsors.

The hole-in-one sponsors were Toyota Cebu, Norkis Automotive Resources, Qatar Airways, Continental Airlines, and Philippine Airlines.

The hole sponsors are Bank of Commerce, Bogo-Medellin Sugar Planters Asso. Inc., Carlos A. Gothong Lines, Cebu Landmasters Inc., Dainan Trading Co. Ltd. (Yotai Refractories), Daitoh Precisions Inc., Design Ventures (Cebu) Inc., Fast Cargo Logistics, Corp., and Gothong Southern.

Additional hole sponsors are Hewlett-Packard Phils. Inc., Marco Polo Plaza, National Federation of Sugarcane Planters, Philippine Associated Smelting & Refining Corp., Ricor Mills Corp., Total Information Management (TIM), and Y&C Marketing.
