This developed as Hannah Grace Espinosa got lucky in the draw, getting no opponent in the quarterfinals in bracket B of the elementary girls singles competition of the tennis event to be held at the Baseline Sports and Recreation Center.
Espinosa will be facing the winner between SACS' Louise Querubin and P.E.S' Glory Faith Bohol.
The other quarterfinalists are PAREF's Athena Espina against Mary Claire Lazaga of Talamban while the other court will have P.E.S' Catherine Mae Ho and St. Elijah Christian School's Kimberly Uytico.
Jacob Lagman of St. Benedict, on the other hand, advances into the quarterfinals of the boy's side along with Lyle Leyson of Talamban and Mandaue's John Michael Necesario.
Meanwhile, DepEd Regional PESS Chief, Dr. Vivian Ginete acknowledged the Milo Little Olympics as an integral part of the sports program of DepEd 7.
Giñete took the task of inspiring the participants in behalf of DepEd 7 director Carlino Mordeno, who could not attend the opening salvo for an important commitment.
"You will notice that the 13 events played here in the Milo are also the games played in DepEd lower meet until Palaro. This Milo Little Olympics serves as a training ground and an exposure for our athletes and officials," Ginete said.
But what brought the house down was the cheerdance competition which featured four schools in the elementary division and another 14 in the secondary level.
De La Salle Andres Soriano Memorial College of Toledo City had the last laugh in the tightly contested competition in the secondary division.
The Toledo bets defeated favorite Abellana National School, which placed second, as the debuting all-male University of San Carlos North squad came out third out.
The elementary division saw Barrio Luz Elementary School winning the top post, extracting sweet revenge over City Central School, which defeated them in the Milo Marathon cheering competition.
Lahug Elementary School claimed the third place honors.
City Central, however, had something to smile about after bagging the biggest delegation award over Visayan Nazarene Bible College while Bario Luz Elementary School got third place.
The secondary level saw ANS, Colegio dela Inmaculada Concepcion and University of San Carlos-North as the top three schools with the most number of delegates during the opening yesterday.
In the Miss Milo Little Olympics contest, University of San Jose-Recoletos' pride Lara Almyra Cabatingan and Labangon Elementary School's Anna Noelle Gighe were crowned as Miss Milo Little Olympics 2006 in secondary and elementary division, respectively.
Cabatingan, a runner up of the Miss CESAFI 2006 got the judges nod over former Miss Little Milo Olympics-elementary division Joy Vanessa Uy of the Abellana National School and Miss CESAFI 2006 Triszha Espina of the University of San Carlos- South Campus.
In the elementary division, Mayene Chrisnell Chavez of St. Paul College Foundation Incorporated was proclaimed the first runner up and the Miss Milo Personality in the elementary division while Cristal Getaruelas of Labangon Bliss Elementary School was adjudged as the second runner up.
Sunshine Bernal of ANS was chosen as the Miss Milo Personality in the secondary division.
