The San Carlos Boys High Alumni Basketball Association (SCBHABA)-M. Lhuillier tries to reassert its supremacy over the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (CECABA) All-Stars as they clash anew in Game 1 of the 2006 Executives Cup best-of-three finals tonight at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
The SCBHABA and CECABA All-Stars renew their rivalry at 9 pm, right after Team Barkada takes on the Jaycees Basketball Association (JBA) Selection-Purcia Transport/Crunchiken in the battle for third place at 7:30 pm.
The SCBHABA stalwarts gained the needed morale-booster heading into the series opener as they demolished the CECABA side, 87-65, in last Tuesday's championship preview.
The same goes to Team Barkada after its 109-100 conquest of JBA Selection courtesy of a combined 60-point show by Danny Lim and Richard Molina.
While the CECABA All-Stars suffered an offensive meltdown, the SCBHABA mainstays were in their usual decisive form with six players dishing out twin figures.
Cat-quick guard Edwin Banaag and bull-strong forward Dindo Sausa conspired for 28 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, while Reynaldo Zamora and Paul Abais cashed in 12 and 11 markers, respectively.
Jone Sepe added 10 points, while Dean Wong hauled a season-high 14 rebounds and 10 points for SCBHABA, which tore the game apart with a 44-19 advantage at halftime.
Except for Chester Cokaliong who posted 22 points, no other CECABA player scored in double figures as the rest of his teammates plunged into deep offensive slumber, perhaps, reserving their energies for the final battle.
The scores
