Nietes edges Rubillar in Minglanilla boxing

RP No.1 light flyweight contender Donnie "The Snake" Nietes defeated journeyman Robert Rubillar by unanimous decision over 10 heats in the other night's "Thrilla in Minglanilla" fight card at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.
In the supporting bouts, ALA Boy Rollen del Castillo stopped Nelson Guidolan of the Davao City-based Willy Neri Stable at 1:28 of the third round, while Louie Bantigue won by unanimous verdict over Bert Gawat.
SGG Stable's Edmund Velayo and Reman Salim also emerged victorious in the slambang event presented by SGG Sports Promortions of international promoter Sammy Gello-ani in partnership with the MIBA-Association of Barangay Captains and the municipal government of Minglanilla under the leadership of Mayor Eduardo Selma.
Velayo prevailed over Arnold Seniego by unanimous decision, while Salim scored a fifth round TKO against Redgie Binueza at 2:50 mark.
Rascheid Bacus, Roden Flores and Marjo, on the other hand, all win by unanimous decision.
