Cebu Dragons compete in Angeles rugby tilt

-
The Cebu Dragons of the Cebu City Rugby Football Club (CCRFC) will be representing Cebu in the Third International Invitational Fat Boys 10 III tournament on August 26, at the Challenger Stadium in Clark Airbase, Angeles City.

This is a one-day event for charity with all proceeds to be shared between the Angeles Bahay Bata Center, an orphanage for street kids run by the local Rotary and the Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) Development fund.

Close to 20 teams will be joining the tournament including Alabang Eagles, Nomads Carabaos, Makati Chiefs, Nomads B and Alabang Ibons.

In related development, CCRFC is now establishing the women's team, the Pink Dragons, which will have a friendly game against the Manila Nomads Bullets tentatively scheduled mid-September this year.

On the other hand, members of the Cebu Dragons already proved their worth in the field of rugby after some of its members namely Ricky Gonzales, Michael Sanchez, Edwin Angelo and Paulin Padayhag represented the Philippines in the SEAGames.

Jerry Bransuela along with Noel Flowers and Paulin Padayhag were now members of the Philippine squad.

The Freeman learned from the General Manager of CCRFC Kym Angelo Limgenco, that they have two prospects, who will be sent to Manila to try-out for the under-19 National squad. They are cousins, 17-year old Nico Corpuz and Ted Velez (14) from Sacred Heart School-Jesuit. - Marigold P. Lebumfacil
