A Lapu-Lapu City pug scored a big upset as he stopped the winning run of First Philippine Olympic Amateur Boxing Festival bronze medallist Mar John Yap in the Pit-os National High School Amateur Boxing Challenge in Pit-os, Talamban.
Darryl Pucdol of Lapu-Lapu City overwhelmed Yap in their 54-kilogram bout to snatch a victory via an easy 3-0 decision.
In another 54kgs class action, Pedro Sulondro outclassed Jimboy Makaraig, a minute and 40 minutes in the first round.
MCCNHS' Jube Apas, on the other hand, let Loenei Suquib retire at the start of the last round of the 38kgs class match as teammate Marlou Tobis pulled a 2-1 win against Jason Tunacao of Phil-Australia.
Donald Tubod (38kg) and 60kgs bet Alfredo Colina, however, made sure not to suffer the same beating they won their respective bouts in the 34kgs class.
Tubod and Colina both posted a 3-0 win against Phil-Australian Club's Joseph Capangpangan and Charlie Todtod, respectively.
Lloyd Semblante, Edmar Tunañacao and Reniel Demape were the only bets of Phil-Australia who managed to win their respective wins as five others bowed down.
KJ Pelayo saved Talamban NHS from going home without a win after posting a 3-0 win against Eddie Boy Abiar of Maguikay in the 32kg class as Cabancalan's Erwin San Roque dumped Dann Lou Codilla.
Maguikay's Gerald Suico also won his bout against Rengie Baunsit as University of the Visayas' Jestoni Borres defeated Nadnad Manatad.
