Samsung Vis-Min golf tees off at CCC

-
The 2nd Samsung Vis-Min Interscholastic Golf Tournament will tee off today at the par-72 Cebu Country Club.

The tournament, according to organizer Boy Blue Ocampo, has drawn a total of 80 players despite the absence of some top junior players, who are now in the US.

Ocampo said, the tournament drew only 64 players last year. "This year, we have players from Bacolod and Bukidnon," he said.

The event will be using the Molave Points System where a double-eagle is seven points, and ace is 6, eagle 5, birdie 4, par 3, bogey 2, and double-bogey is 1.

There will be competitions under several categories. For the boys division, here will be sub-categories for college, high school, elementary, and the special division for those ten years old and under.

For the distaff side, the high school and college level will be combined, while there will also be action for the grade school and special divisions.

Ocampo said that aside from the grade school girls, who will be playing 36 holes in two days, all other classes will play for 54 holes or three days.

There will also be team competitions for the high school and grade school levels.

Aside from Samsung, the event is also supported by Taylor Made, Titleist, Solar Sports Plus, and Sunbolt.

Schools represented in the tournament are Bethany Christian School, Bright Academy, Bukidnon Faith Christian School, Cebu Learning Center, Centre for International Education, Holy Cross High School, Our Lady of Lourdes, PAREF Springdale, Penn Foster, Rosevele School, Sacred Heart School-Jesuit, and Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus.

Also competing are players from San Miguel Elementary School, St. Mary School, University of San Carlos, University of St. la Salle, and St. Scholastica's Academy. - NLQ
