CX Plus John Arne Construction starts strong in SWF Club hoop

- Gabby G. Malagar -
The CX Plus John Arne Construction went off to an auspicious start by scoring an 88-76 win over the Flammazine in the Sunday-Wednesday-Friends Club basketball tournament last Sunday at the CEC gym.

In the other game, Unilink bounced back from its opening loss, but not without passing through a major scare before running away with a 94-92 victory over Summit Drinking Water.

With three players scoring in double figures for playing coah Boy Te and the presence of German center Roland Koschinger, John Arne controlled the game all the way.

Vincent Reyes paced John Arne with 18 points while Dave Lim and Jimbo Noel added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Te and Koschinger combined for 13 points.

Meanwhile, SWF president Engr. Paul Quiñanola had 11 points in Unilink's win. Last June 18, Unilink bowed down to Flammazine, 72-79, with Quiñanola scoring nine points.

Five teams are seeing action in this year's SWFC.

Te, who steered the John Arne Construction to the Guadalupe Inter-Company crown, had been re-appointed as SWFC commissioner.

Te expressed his gratitude to Teofanes Yap of George and Peter Lines, who had been supporting SWFC for several years now.

During the opening ceremonies, Summit's Claire Quirago, a nursing sudent of University of San Jose-Recoletos, romped away with the Miss SWFC tiara.
