The University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) missed the crown of the Tournament of the Champions yesterday in the Shakey's Girls Volleyball at the Ateneo de Manila University gym.
This after one of its key players badly suffered a knee injury that hampered their bid in the championship match against the University of the East Warriors, the reining UAAP secondary division champions.
The USP-F Lady Panthers was upended by the UE Warriors in straight sets, 25-20, 27-25, 25-22.
The Lady Panthers put-up a good fight against the Warriors, but with middle blocker Cebuana Jane Garrido badly hurting her knee, they failed to sustain the action.
"Hubag man gud kaayo iyang (Garrido) tuhod. Wa lang gyud nako gipugos kay mugrabe unya. Lisod nag di na siya kaduwa sa uban pang mga event," says USP-F coach Jordan Paca.
During the elimination round, USP-F won all their assignments.
