Four shoot 74s as CCC jungolfest opens

Alonzo Reyes and Adrian Woo share the first round lead for class A of the 3rd Cebu Country Club Junior Open Golf Tournament played at the club's par-72 course.

Reyes of Negros and Woo of Del Monte each fired two-over-par 74 strokes for a three-shot lead over Charles Uy of CCC and Art Abole of Del Monte.

Kathleen Uy of the host club also scored 74 strokes yesterday to pace the girls' class A (15 to 17 years old) and the fourth to shoot the same score was Chepe Dulay of Negros, who paces boys' class B (13 to 14).

Uy had nines of 38 and 36 and is way ahead of teammate Hannah Wong with 90.

Dulay is four ahead of Mikhael Martin Manglapus of CCC in their division and Franz Olea, another local bet is two more strokes further back.

Marian Woo of Del Monte paces girls' class B with 77 strokes, eight ahead of teammate Kristine Leonen while Julienne Pacetes of Synergy is third with 90 strokes.

Cebu's Lloyd Jefferson Go paces class C (11 to 12) for the boys' category shooting 75 strokes. Paolo de Leon of Negros is at second with 80 and at third is Cebu's Martin Mendoza with 88.

CCC's Abbey Olea leads the girls' class C with 83 followed by Irina Gabasa of Alta Vista and Kriztine Uy of CCC with 85 strokes each.

Angelo Jose Gandiongco of Alta Vista paces boys' class D (9-10) with 80 strokes. Harvey Sytiongsa of Synergy is at second with 82 and Franz Ivan Dy of CCC is third with 85.

Synergy's Sunny Cheung paces the distaff side for class D with 99 followed closely by Emmylou Tan of Alta Vista with 100 and Kaye Tabanas of Del Monte with 109.

It's a close battle for the boys' class E (8-under) with CCC's Marc Georgio Go shooting 41 to take the lead. At second is Jelbert Gamolo of Del Monte with 42 and Airon Sorino of CCC is third with 43.

CCC's Rachita Vasandani leads the girls' side for the youngest class with 39 strokes. Lois Kaye Go also of CCC is at second with 41 while Pamela Mariano of Del Monte is third with 46.

In the special division (18 to 23), Meloy Cubillo of Del Monte and teammate Banny Abaño share the lead with 77 strokes apiece. Erwin Madriliño of Negros is two strokes back with 79.

The two-day tournament is backed by Fast Logistics Corp., ProGear Golf Makati, Birdies & Pars Golf Shop, Da Vinci's Pizza, and Stocks R' Us.
