USC Warriors to fete Justice Lock on July 17

- Gabby G. Malagar -
The University of San Carlos (USC) Old Warriors will tender a testimonial dinner on June 17 to former buddy and batchmate Justice Christopher Lock, who was recently appointed as court administrator of the Supreme Court.

Justice Lock took his oath of office last May 3 administered by no less than Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban in Baguio City.

The Old Warriors consider Lock's appointment as a great achievement by a former player who at the same time studied hard to reach his goal.

Justice Lock, who served for several years as Regional Trial Court judge in Cavite City, played for USC from 1961 to 1965 under the late coach Juan "Dodong" B. Aquino Jr.

The Old Warriors, formed last January and composed of retired players including four-time PBA MVP Ramon "El Presidente" Fernandez, agreed to tender a testimonial dinner to Justice Lock on June 17 at the San Miguel Corporation 1521 Center.

The occasion will coincide with the induction of the newly-elected Old Warriors officers and board members led by Atty. Deen as president.

Atty. Baldomero C. Estenzo, who played for USC from 1961-1965, and Vicente "Inting" Colina, a Warrior from 1962-1965, are the organizers of the special affair.

Deen will introduce USC president Rev. Fr. Roderick C. Salazar Jr., SVD, who will receive a plaque from the Old Warriors.

Those who will be inducted into office along with Deen are Fernandez as vice president, Raul Reyes as secretary, Julian Macoy as treasurer, Bobby Baria assistant treasurer, and Isidoro "Doring" Cañizares as auditor.

Two of the board members who cannot make it to the induction because they are now living abroad are former USC collegiate coach Bobby Reynes and Nilo Velasquez, now based in New York and London, respectively.

The other board members are Justice Lock, Estenzo, Colina, Cogon-Ramos barangay captain Danny Alfafara, Sirlitz operations manager Allan Lataza, Fred Nadela, and Boy Remedio.
