Central Visayas volleyball bets grab special awards in Palaro

- Rafael S. Alas III -
The Central Visayas volleyball teams did not only go home with medals in their respective divisions but also individual awards in the 2006 Palarong Pambansa, which came to a close Saturday at the Metro Naga Sports Complex in Naga City.

The epic victory of the secondary girl's volleyball over favorite National Capital Region (NCR), was made even sweeter when the girls from the University of Southern Philippines Foundation clinched three individual awards.

Ma. Therese Caballero was the most triumphant member of the team as she bagged the coveted Most Valuable Player award.

Teammates Erika Camille Verano and Niña Mae Perez shared the limelight as they grabbed the Best Attacker and Best Setter awards, respectively.

On the other hand, the elementary girls team from Cebu Province, even winning only the silver medal after bowing to Southern Tagalog-CALABARZON, were able to haul two special awards courtesy of Dianne Jane Brian as Best Digger and Kause delos Reyes as Best Blocker.

Also, the second runner-up finish of the secondary boy's team was highlighted by the victory of Arnel Amadeo of Negros Oriental as the Best Blocker.

Today, the Central Visayas delegation will arrive here at the port of Cebu City bringing with them the fourth place trophy of the Palarong Pambansa.

The delegates will then go on separate ways as some of them will go home to their respective provinces in Bohol, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Siquijor and here in Cebu.
