BJ Star, Ho Tong win in Forty Aces cagefest opening

BJ Star Logistics and Ho Tong Hardware opened their bid in the 2006 Forty Aces Multi-Purpose Cooperative Summer Basketball tournament on a bright note at the Visayan Glass gym in Guadalupe.

BJ Star went away with a 91-72 win against JRE Tsunami in the opening game, pulling as high as 19-point margin.

On the other hand, Ho Tong Hardware demolished Green Pol-Pals, 88-66, in this 40 years old and above action.

Nestor Lareta and Oscar Alegado prevented the Green Pol-Pals from stealing away the game with their perimeter shots and fast break plays in the closing minutes.

Prior to the games, Cenon Zabate was proclaimed the three-point shot winner in a side event part of the opening activity.

Zabate defeated Rene Cane for the top post while Maning Morales wound up third.
