The PPSA All-Stars were in fighting mood early on to take a hairline lead at halftime, 39-38, but Rey Zamora, Rommel Gabuya, and Rex Millan presided over furious third quarter fightback to vault the Guardo-Rama Boys to an 80-64 advantage entering the final period.
The Guardo-Rama Boys dominated the game from that point on as they had great success in quashing out a last ditch rally by PPSA All-Stars' troika of Cear Ortega, Lito Navarro, and Angel Magan.
In the tournament proper, the Bing Abbu-led J & B crushed Smart Tires Recapping Services, 75-66.
The Tiremen was way ahead in the first half, 24-11, before suffering a huge collapse in the remaining two quarters.
Michael Dumdum fueled J & B's daring breakway by hitting 25 of his 30 points in the second half. Rommel Japin chipped in 20 markers.
Dennis Gerali and Dong Nazareno paced the Tiremen with a combined 28-point output.
A total of 14 teams took part in the tournament.
Preceding the games was a simple opening ceremonies graced by Punta Princesa Brgy. Captain Jose Navarro, sports committee chairman Boy Atillo, and Sambag I Brgy. Capt. Jerry L. Guardo, who tossed the ceremonial ball.
