'Stars of the Future carpark Boxing': ALA Boys see action in Bohol card tonight
April 30, 2006 | 12:00am
Rising ALA Stable stars AJ Banal and Robert Allanic take centerstage today as they clash with separate Thai foes in the double main event of the "Stars of the Future Carpark Boxing" tonight at the Island City Mall carpark in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Banal (5-0-1, 4KOs) slugs it out with Bangsaen Sithpraprom (5-1, 3KOs), while Philippine top flyweight contender Allanic (12-1, 5KOs) clashes with Saensak Singmanassak (11-13-2, 6KOs).
The Corella, Bohol-native Banal won his last three fights via stoppage, including a spectacular first round knockout of Thai Dechapol Bankluaygym in his previous bout last March 18 at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.
Allanic, on the other hand, is riding high on a five-fight winning streak since absorbing his first and only defeat so far by fourth round TKO to Orlan Enriquez on June 11 last year in Mandaue.
Allanic bounced back from that debacle by stopping Janrey Verano in the third round. He then racked up four more wins, including a lopsided unanimous verdict over Robert Rubillar.
Aside from Banal and Allanic, another ALA Boy worth watching for is Rey Caitom in the explosive card assembled by international promoter Sammy Gello-ani of SGG Sports Promotions in cooperation with the local government of Tagbilaran City led by Mayor Dan Neri Lim.
Caitom, unscathed in five fights with two wins by knockouts, tackles Roldan Malinao (7-11, 1KO) of the Butuan City-based Bernard Yu Stable.
Also set to spice up the slambang affair is the professional debut of last year's Southeast Asian (SEA) Games silver medallist Mark Jason Melligen, who will have his baptism of fire against fellow debutant Roland Malunhao.
Melligen lost in the finals against Non Boojumnong of Thailand in the 23rd SEA Games.
The rest of the ring gladiaters who will be showing their stuff in the exciting slugfest are Milan Melindo (4-0-1, 3KOs) against Amirro Ricablanca (2-4), Niñolito Jalnaiz opposite Jessie Albarracin, Frank Albia versus Brix "Bomb" Ray, Rasheid Bacus against Argie Marapao, Felix Malibago vs. Daryl Amoncio, and Rogen Flores vs. Rey Taguibalos.
