Garfield logs fourth straight win in CABA hoop

Garfield Black logged its fourth straight win after crushing LDC Warriors, 87-77, to lead the elimination round of the First Conference Basketball League of Cebu Athletics Basketball Association (CABA) at the San Nicolas Sports Complex.
LDC Warriors was way ahead in the first two periods and even erected a huge 14 points advantage, 47-33, at halftime behind the early assault of the trio of Baxter Incorporado, Oliver Navarro and Mark Villacorta.
They continued a wave of attack that widened the lead by 17 points, 71-54, at the end of the third quarter.
But Garfield caught fire in the final quarter and a seesaw battle went down in the closing minutes when Ting Enicuela nailed a perimeter short jumper that took the first deadlock at 74-all, while a spirited rally followed with a fastbreak drive by former inter-commercial standout, Reggie Licanda to take their first taste of lead.
They then held on to it throughout, clamping the Warriors with six points only and torching 33 points to complete the turnaround in the payoff canto that sealed the win.
Danny Estrera and Reggie Licanda scored 39 points combined to power Garfield, which also drew support from Roger Salili, who erupted ten points of his 12 points explosion in the opening period, while Junnie Cambonga added 11 markers.
Earlier, the undermanned FERI Mc Mill (2-2) routed the highly favored I-Cooler Marketing (3-2), 90-74. Power-center Dennis Santillan scattered a game-high of 30 points to spearhead FERI McMill, which also drew double figures each from Ranel Bernal, Junjun Baldago and Erik Viajedor.
Cary Sanchez and Lito Dico lead I-Cooler with 17 points apiece, while Ricky Misa added ten in a losing cause.
