PFF, CebuFA to hold try-out for U-14 team

- Rafael S. Alas III -
The Philippine Football Federation (PFF), the NSA of football in the country, together with Cebu Football Association, Inc. (CebuFA), the governing body for football in Cebu Province, will be conducting an open try-out for the RP National Youth U-14 Team.

The try-out, which is open to all CebuFA affiliated schools and clubs here in Central Visayas, will be admitting players born 1992 and above or those turning 14 years old or younger in 2006.

It will be held at the San Roque Football Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City on April 7-8, from 7:30 am to 4 pm.

The initiative is in preparation for the formation of the RP National Youth U-14 Team that will compete in the forthcoming Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-14 Tournament this May 29 to June 4, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The selected players will form part of the training pool that will undergo intensive training under the PFF.

The try-outs will be conducted by PFF national coach John Carmona to be assisted by PFF Center For Excellence (CFE) coach Mario Ceniza.

"We have lobbied to PFF that they should conduct a separate try-out for Cebu since we now have a pool of very good youth players capable of playing for the National Team. Some Cebu teams even won titles in their out-of-town trips in Manila, Iloilo and San Carlos City, among others. This is now the result of our Youth & Grassroots Development Program," said CebuFA president Maxi Maximo.
