USC releases incentives to PRISAA athletes

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -
Prayers coupled with hardwork paved the way for athletes from the University of San Carlos (USC) as they reaped medals in the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games in Pangasinan early this month.

Yesterday, the members of the USC teams received more than what they expected as the administration gifted them with cash incentives for bringing honor to the school and to Central Visayas.

A total of P100,000 were released by USC during the victory party held at the VPAA conference hall.

Swimmer Andrei Yosef Ynclino pocketed the biggest cash incentive after garnering two gold, one silver and four bronze medals.

Ynclino, a nursing student, received a total of P12,000.

Each gold won in the PRISAA National Games is worth P3,000 while the silver is P2,000 and the bronze with P1,000.

The non medal-winning athletes also received P500 each.

The coaches and the other delegation officials, who were also part of the delegation also got cash incentives.

The cash incentive given by USC came out as a big surprise to the athletes.

VP for finance and athletic director Fr. Vicente Uy said the cash incentive given to the athletes is justified with the outcome of their performances in the PRISAA Meet.

Although, less than 15 athletes came from USC in the PRISAA-VII line-up, the Carolinians contributed a lot in the medal haul of the region.

Also cited were the multi-titled Kim Steven Yap, who was a reinforcement of the USJ-R men's chess team, and volleyball player Roderick Arenaza.

The incentive given to the athletes is also expected to inspire the rest of the varsity players to practice and play hard in their games.

The schools of the other PRISAA-VII delegates are still waiting for the approval by its respective presidents.
