Lapu-Lapu vs Toledo in First GUV Cup Final

Toledo City and Lapu-Lapu City dumped its respective opponents to et up a thrilling championship match in the 1st Governor Garcia Unity Volleyball Cup at Mandaue Sports Complex and Cultural Center.
Toledo City, the cluster III champion, was the surprise package in the tournament as its nailed the first finals berth, having won all its three assignments while while Lapu-Lapu City posted a 2-1 win-loss card.
Toledo City, who defeated Carcar the other day, completed its stainless campaign via a four set victory over Lapulapu City, 25-22, 26-24, 25-22, 25-14.
Lapu-Lapu City, on the other hand, reaffirmed its dominance against perennial rival Mandaue City stunning the latter but not without passing through the proverbial eye of the needle.
In a match that featured some of the best varsity players in Cebu, Lapu-Lapu City had to stretch the game to the fifth set before defeating the stubborn Mandaue City, 21-25, 13-25, 25-16, to clinch the finals berth after both teams sports a similar 2-1 card.
Mandaue, for its part, beat Carcar, 25-12, 25-16, 25-21 to post two wins and two losses.
In the other game, Carcar ended the semifinals with 2-2 card after it demolished Catmon, 25-13, 25-18, 25-17.
The final match will be on December 20 at the same venue with Governor Gwen Garcia expected to grace the occasion which promises to be in a festive mood.
