December 13, 2005 | 12:00am
DAY cagers squandered a 15-point lead entering the final quarter, but fortune still smiled at them as they outgunned Doña Maria Village in overtime, 106-98, while F. Pacaña demolished VSF, 120-60, in the 2005 Punta Princesa Sports Association Inter-Village Christmas Basketball Tournament at the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial gym.
DAY mounted an imposing 77-61 lead after three quarters, but DMV staged a daring fightback to forge a 91-all deadlock on Prandy Mendoza's short jumper in the dying seconds of the 40-minute regulation period that sent the game into overtime.
In the five-minute extension, DAY showed no signs of exhaustion, with Oliver Sanoy pouring in eight points to seal their win.
Sanoy charted a game-high 38 points, while Day Tobes fired 20 points as DAY stormed to its fourth straight victory to stay on top of Bracket B.
DMV's Prandy and Carlo Mendoza scattered 25 and 22 markers, respectively, in a losing cause.
In the other game, F. Pacaña mercilessly clobbered VSF to post the most lopsided victory in the tournament so far.
Reeve Jumawan drilled a tournament-high 42 points to lead F. Pacaña to its third victory in four starts.
