Lao and Gothong snatch 'Bowler of the Year' titles

Kimberly Lao and Junjun Gothong scorched the lanes with authority to grab the Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA) Bowler of the Year awards in the women and men's divisions, respectively, last Sunday at the Gaisano Bowlingplex.

Lao, a junior student of Sacred Heart for Girls, matched her stunning good looks with a near flawless performance to retain her crown with a total of 2,439 pinfalls in 12 games. She went home P4,000 richer.

Alexis Sy of Philippine Christian Gospel School landed at second place with 2,372 pinfalls, while Rocci Damole of St. Theresa's College knocked down 2,372 pins to wind up third. Sy pocketed P3,000, while Damole received P2,000.

Jennifer Tan got P1,000 for placing fourth with 2,207 pinfalls.

In the men's action, the 27-year-old Gothong rolled an impressive 2,840 pins to outclass closest pursuer Clark Tiu, who posted 2,804 to finish second place.

Clark's younger brother, Clarence, failed to defend his title as he struggled in his game to topple only 2,582 pins for a third place finish. Jericho Jumapao of Sacred Heart School-Jesuit came in fourth with 2,479 pins.
