Cebuanos to defend turf in PRISAA regional meet

Cebu City will be out to defend its turf against the best tertiary athletes of the Central Visayas Region as the 2005 Private Schools Regional Athletic Association (PRISAA) meet fires off in various venues here this weekend.

Tomorrow, athletes from Bohol and Negros Oriental will be arriving here in the Queen City of the South as they prepare to challenge defending champion and host Cebu City in the multi-event conclave, which will serve as elimination round for the National PRISAA meet slated February 5-11 in Pangasinan and Dagupan City in Region I.

Bohol will be challenging the Cebuanos in basketball, volleyball, lawn tennis, badminton, table tennis, swimming, chess, athletics, taekwondo, sepak takraw, softball and baseball while Negros Oriental will join in basketball, volleyball, lawn tennis, badminton, table tennis, swimming and chess.

Host Cebu City will be joining in all the events to be contested.

Action proper will kick off 1 p.m. on December 9, following a Holy Mass at 9 a.m. at the University of San Carlos-Main Chapel and formal opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. at the USC-Main gym.

University of the Visayas Green Lancer Norman Sevilla will lead the Oath of Sportsmanship.

Set for the evening of December 8 are the solidarity meeting and welcome dinner of all the delegation officials at Patio Isabel.
