Mountainbike seeding run today
November 27, 2005 | 12:00am
Action in the 23rd SEA Games mountainbike event unfolds today with the seeding run of the downhill competition at the Ramon Durano Sr. Memorial Sports Complex in Danao City.
The seeding run will determine a riders' kick off in the final run. The rider with the best time in the seeding will be the last to go during the final battle set tomorrow.
Although the time set in the seeding run will not be carried in the final race, it is still something to look forward to for the enthusiasts and participants as well for them to know who are the top riders competing in the event.
The downhill course in Danao is very dangerous with its finish line consisting of a pit filled with water.
The Bentspoke-supported Joey Barba leads RP's charge in the downhill competition together with Michael Borja, Jeffrey Odiviar and alternate rider Parabanne Mendoza. The distaff side has Athena Beltran as the lone entry for the Philippines.
Aside from the seeding run, there will be also a national race wherein the non-SEA Games entries can get a feel of the course today.
The cross-country competition, on the other hand, will take place on Tuesday with no less than President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo set to grace the action.
Arroyo's attendance was confirmed to The Freeman yesterday by UCI International Commissaire and Danao City Councilor Oscar "Boying" Rodriguez, Jr.
