Smart Tires place third in PPSA hoop

The Harry "El Presidente" Lim backed Smart Tires turned its back on Jonfer Enterprises, 91-80, to place third in the 40-above division of the Punta Princesa Sports Association basketball tournament at Vicente Sotto Memorial Gym.

Emy Daclan sparkled in the first period by firing 13 points which was spiked by three triples to put Smart Tires ahead, 26-20.

Jonfer though managed to slice the gap by four points, 74-78, early in the final quarter behind the combined efforts of Douglas Beltran, Erik Gaviola and Arnold Petalar but it turned out to be the closest threat they could afford.

Playmaker Panis Gerali top scored for Smart Tires with 17 points while Nido Mercader and Danny Desoyo chalked up 14 and 11 markers, respectively.

On the other hand, the championship match between J & B and Larimp Network Tech will be played on November 12 while the visiting Rama Boys spearheaded by Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama faces off with PPSA All-Star.

The awarding ceremony will follow on November 13 at 9:00 a.m. at Tourist Seaside in Talisay City. All members are requested to attend the affair. - Sona Mae V. Povadora
