Boxing buffs will have a glimpse of Boholano talents as six other Bohol homegrown pugs will showcase their punching skills in the equally-exciting undercards of the "Binakbakay sa Bohol" card co-featured by ALA standouts Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista and Czar Amonsot on November 19 at the Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex in Tagbilaran City.
The Candijay, Bohol-native Bautista will make the second defense of his World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia-Pacific bantamweight title against Tanzanian "Thunder" Obote Ameme, while Amonsot, Tagbilaran's prized fighter, challenges defending champion Victor Mausol of Indonesia for the WBO AsPac super featherweight crown.
Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim, who spearheaded the multi-million show, wants the Boholano talents to be part of the historic event, prompting international promoter Sammy Gello-ani to check in some of Bohol's ring stars in the undercards.
Heading the list of Boholano combatants spicing up the dual WBO AsPac championship is RP ranked No.3 flyweight Along Denoy (8-6, 2KOs), who will clash with Rene Bañares in a 10-rounder match.
Dinoy was impressive in his previous bout last September 17 in Mandaue City where he beat by decision Niño Suelo, one of the very few fighters who lasted the full distance against OPBF minimumweight title-holder Rodel "Batang Mandaue" Mayol.
Dinoy's 'paisanos (townmates)' in Arnel Tadena, Alex John Banal, Glenn Masicampo, Dan Carlos, and Tiny Tyson also hope to steal the show in what is considered as the biggest and the grandest boxing promotion so far in the history of Bohol.
Tadena, who hails from Jagna, mixes it up with Gil Abad, Banal battles Ronnie Saguing, Masicampo takes on Billy Bullecer, Carlos faces Chris Alag, while Tyson tangles with Julius Cabusas. Also, Talisay City's Rashid Bacus squares off with Jun Grumo in the curtain raiser.
Aside from the local government of Tagbilaran, also backing up the slambang spectacle are the Sandugo Foundation and the provincial government of Bohol led by governor Erico Aumentado and Bohol Sports Commission chairman Dionisio Balite.
Lim earlier pronounced the promotion, which will be televised by VIVA Sports, is open for free to students and senior citizens.
Lim said though they will be selling souvenir items worth P100 such as pins bearing "I Believe in Boom Boom" to those who will be going inside the fight venue.
Lim said the event is not a profit-making venture for Bohol as its net sales will go to Bautista to subsidize the latter's training in the United States next year.
