Catmon snatched a ticket to the provincial meet after claiming the title in cluster V of the 1st Governor Gwen Garcia Vollyball Unity Cup yesterday in Camotes Island.
Catmon defeated Sogod in three sets to claim the crown and the championship purse of P20,000.
It was a walk in the park for Catmon and Sogod in the cross-over semifinals as they encountered less competition against San Francisco and Pilar, respectively.
Catmon preyed on San Francisco, 25-16, 25-15, while Sogod carved out a similar lopsided victory against Pilar, 25-9, 25-15.
However, in the finals showdown Catmon had to go through the proverbial eye of the needle before getting past the stubborn spikers from Sogod.
Catmon jump off to a hot start pulling a 25-15 scoring in the first set, but the team fizzled out in the next set as Sogod rallied back, holding them off 12-25 to even the match, 1-1.
However, Catmon showed more consistency to prevail over Sogod, 25-19, in the decider.
