The University of San Carlos bagged two golds and a silver to reign supreme in the tertiary division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) lawn tennis competition the other day at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club.
USC's Benebeth Patindol defeated her teammate Stephanie Vasquez in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, in the women's singles finals.
Floreza Alesna and Jane Idos added glitter to USC after breaking the hearts of defending champion Jade Abangan and Jenevie Gregorio of the University of San Jose-Recoletos with a 7-5, 6-3 victory to rule the women's doubles event.
In the men's singles, University of Cebu's Janjie Soquiño overpowered University of the Visayas' James Dumoran, 6-2, 6-1, to claim the title.
UV, however, bounced back after Dumoran's younger brother, Oswaldo, and John Villa grabbed the doubles gold at the expense of USC's John Donio and Bathan, 6-3, 6-4.
