All three CIT teams will be seeing action today with secondary leader CIT Wildkittens seeking vengeance of their 57-63 loss to the UC Junior Webmasters while the winless CIT Lady Wildcats try to break their jinx when they go up against last year's losing finalists USC Lady Warriors, who escaped with a 48-47 win over defending champion UC Lady Webmasters last week in Consolacion.
The Webmasters recently scored a morale-boosting 75-68 win over the four-time champion University of the Visayas Green Lancers at the UV gym Thursday to solidify their finals bid.
The Webmasters are in second place with 6-3 win-loss record and their number two position will no longer be threatened as they and the Lancers are bound to a finals meeting this season. Both the Lancers and the Webmasters earned the twice-to-beat advantage with UV taking up USP and UC going up against USC, for a great re-match after both teams were involved in a melee last September 11.
The Webmasters, who are eyeing for a repeat of their 87-73 win over the Wildcats, rely on their key players including Orville Saludsod, Jared Kane Abatayo, Miguelito Ducay, Aldeth Batobalonos, Kenneth Kerm Sesante, Raymond Yncierto, Ata Ayuk, Harlow Chad Villanil and RP Youth campaigner Jonathan Canceran.
The 2-6 Wildcats need the explosion of Emilio Aniñon, Ramil Guevarra, Karl Ocañada, Sherwin Abobo and Jessie Bustos, among others.
Jan Julius Colina is again expected to carry the load for the Junior Webmasters along with Cyril Gayo, Robinson Mohammad, Michael Panerio, Jay Julius Tabalin, Jose Maria Cuico and Erbin Espinosa.
The Wildkittens are certainly no pushovers in today's game. They are sporting a 7-3 win-loss record and had been winning against heavyweight rivals including defending champions UV Baby Lancers.
They will lean on Karen Rick del Cerna, Eliezer del Mar, Rein Carlo Augusto, Emmanuel Diaz, Clayton Labagala and Kiam Ian Alvarez.
The much-favored Lady Warriors rely on Jessamine delos Reyes, Fairlette Ceniza, Diane Cañete, Cate Merced Comahig, Marynold Piner and Denise Querubin.
The winless Lady Wildcats are still pinning their hopes on consistent scoring leader Chona Tabernerno with the support of Airele Lyle Chua, Kryzha Mae Faune, Sunshine Panuncia, Shela Peito and Ever Joy Trazona.
