'Binakbakay sa Barangay' boxfest kicks off in Consolacion

The first ever inter-barangay slugfest reels off in Consolacion, Cebu as fighters from 11 different barangays beak-bust at the Consolacion Sports Center at 6:00 tonight.

The slambang card will be highlighted by the pro debut of the "Batang Lacion" boys, who will have their baptism of fire in the paid ranks against Mindanao-based fighters.

Composing the "Batang Lacion" are Irwin "Puvora" Pulvera at 112 lbs, Roland "Wow" Malunhao at 145 lbs and Jason "Guerra" Geda at 110 lbs. They will go up against Mindanao brawlers in Falcon Villegas, Noel Tadle and Abdul Simo, respectively.

Seeing action in the inter-barangay slugfest are: Jeffrey Pulvera of Poblacion Oriental vs. Jonathan Nacua of Mandaue City, Vercide Junrie of Cansaga vs. Brian Mercado of Purok 7, Nangka, Orly Percadal of Jugan vs. Edison Serrano of Togbongan, Cliford Pitogo of Lamac vs. Jordan Vargas of Casili, Junrie Paligid of Pitogo vs. Barlick Velasquez of Poblacion Oriental, Shimshim of Pitogo vs. Benjie Lucero of Tayud and Elmer Pulvera of Poblacion Occidental vs. Belmer Espina of Nangka. Winners of the event will slug it out in the finals on Oct. 29 in time of the annual fiesta of Colsolacion.

The inter-Barangay winners will then form the core group of the Consolacion Amateur Boxing Team.

Presented by Thunderbird and promoted by MINDCOM, the Inter-Barangay Slugfest is the first of a series of boxing events to be promoted all over the country.

The tickets, priced at P30, P100 and P200, are available at the venue and participating barangay halls.
