There was a time when one has to go to Manila or abroad to look for Mizuno athletic gears. This brand, known for high performance, was very hard to find even in Manila. This spurred Colleen and Wendell Villacin to open Mint Sportshop.
Colleen started selling athletic gears a few years ago during Christmas bazaars. People would flock to her booth looking for shoes and gears especially for badminton. With the opening of Banilad Town Center, she finally decided to open a sportshop catering to her loyal clientele.
Since she is very much into badminton like myself, she first wanted to sell badminton shoes, rackets, shuttlecocks, and gears. But with the encouragement of her husband, they finally went for a store that caters to all sports. "Mint" was coined out of her love for bad-mint-on.
Apart from Mizuno, the sportshop also offers Yonex, RSL, Chaopai badminton rackets, shuttlecocks, bags, and gears. Her customers are those avid badminton players from different clubs in Cebu.
The Cebu Flag Football League (CFFL) also patronizes her shop. Volleyball players from different schools have also been happy to have a distributor of Mizuno here. My fellow sports columnist Nimrod Quiñones dropped by the shop the other day to buy a pair of soccer shoes for his kid.
Golfers can also source out all the gears they need in this shop. Mizuno shoes and gears are one of the most sought after by golfers.
Kudos to Colleen and Wendell for finally offering a sportshop for serious athletes like me.
