10th Milo Little Olympics UC, SHS-Jesuit reign

The University of Cebu Webmasters and Sacred Heart School-Jesuit romped off with the overall championship title in their respective divisions in the 10th Milo Little Olympics, which closed yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The Webmasters closed the multi-event conclave with 39 gold, 21 silver and 13 bronze medals to top in the secondary division.

The Webmasters were so dominant in the field that their medal haul is more than twice the medal output of second placer University of the Visayas-Main, which ended with 13 gold, 14 silver and 9 bronze medals.

Wounding up third is University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) with 8 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals.

In the elementary division, the Jesuit topped them all with 12 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals as Talamban Elementary School followed with 7 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals.

Completing the top three is Pardo Elementary School with 6 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze medals. Both the Webmasters and the Jesuit will receive a trophy and Milo sports equipment worth P40,000 while the first runners-up will get a trophy and sports equipment worth P20,000.

The third placers will get a trophy and sports equipment worth P10,000.00 and the fourth to tenth finishers will get plaques.
Secondary Division
Athletics proved to be the gold mine for the Webmasters as they grabbed 26 gold medals in the track and field events, with the leadership of senior Kenn Werner Villaruel, the Most Outstanding Athlete, and Annabel Nuñez, who won five gold medals each.

Their swimming team also contributed 7 gold medals, the table tennis team with 5 gold medals and the chess team with 1 gold medal.

UV-Main, for its part, hauled 11 gold medals in gymnastics and 2 gold medals in lawn tennis with boys singles champion John Francis Largo winning the Most Outstanding Athlete. Third placer USP-F won 5 gold in gymnastics, 2 in volleyball and one in athletics. Renatina Lipasana of USP-F is the Most Outstanding Athlete in gymnastics.
Elementary Division
Like the Webmasters, the Jesuit also grabbed majority of their gold medal haul in the athletics event with 7 gold medals.

Their swimmers clinched 3 gold medals and taekwondo jins captured two gilts. Talamban Elementary School won all its 7 gold medals in the athletics event with Arielle Famador leading the cast as Most Outstanding Athlete. Pardo Elementary School won 2 golds in athletics and one each in lawn tennis girls, sipa and table tennis boys.
Most Outstansding Athlete
A total of 22 athletes will be receiving P5,000 worth of educational assistance and a plaque from Nestle Philippines after they were picked Most Outstanding Athlete in their respective events. The awardees in the elementary division are Loren Dale Echavez of Sotero Cabahug Forum for Literacy for swimming, Karl Bermudez of Pardo ES (sipa), Elaine Buaya of University of San Jose-Recoletos (scrabble), Sally Mae Siso of University of San Carlos-South Campus (tennis).

Winmar Agdon of Gun-ob ES (gymnastics), Rikko Cedric de Guzman of Don Bosco (soccer), Felix Shaun Balbona of CIC-Main (chess), Arielle Famador of Talamban ES (athletics), Elizabeth Gapas of Sacred Heart-Jesuit (taekwondo), Elonna Dane Tormis of Mabolo ES (table tennis) and Jinky Garidos of USP-F (volleyball).

The secondary division will have Erika Camille Verano of USP-F (volleyball), Charliemagne Cordova of UV-Main (taekwondo), Allan Paul Bayona of Dumaguete City High (swimming), Dexter Dungog of CIT (scrabble), Joselito Renta of Gothong (sepak takraw), John Francis Largo of UV-Main (tennis), Renatina Lipasana of USP-F (gymnastics), Garry Garciano of Abellana National School (football), Nathan Mathew Sarigumba of Sacred Heart-Jesuit (chess), Kenn Werner Villaruel of UC (athletics) and Mary Angelie Motel of UC (table tennis).
