The track and field team took the cudgels for the University of Cebu Webmasters and Sacred Heart School-Jesuit as they took the lead in their respective divisions in the 10th Milo Little Olympics here.

Today, competitions in all the events contested will take a breather and tough action will resume next weekend, still at their respective venues.

Yesterday, the Webmasters were simply dominant in the secondary track and field competition as they closed the second day of competition with 17 gold medals.

Leading the charge are seniors Ken Werner Villaruel and Annabel Nuñez, junior Stephanie Sanico and freshman Marjorie Ann Sy, who won their second gold medals in their respective events.

Villaruel, who ruled the 1,500m run the other day, added the 800m title to his collection, while Nuñez edged teammate Angela Labajo to win the 200m gold in 28.06 seconds.

Nuñez, who is looking forward to win her third individual gold medal on Saturday, then stunned teammate Sheena Gacayan to reign in the 800m run.

Sanico, the gold medal winner in shot put the other day, extended her dominance in the discus throw event, heaving 25.65 meters for the gold even as teammate Roxanne Camay settled for silver in 21.93m.

Sy, for her part, topped in the 400m hurdles and high jump, over teammate Almira Gay Sadaya.

Yesterday also saw the gold medal performances of freshman Carl Jeannette Malazarte in the 3,000m steeplechase, Jhim Benedict Ygot in the 200m, Dharl Pitogo and Irin Baluran in long jump.

Over at the Cebu City Aquatic Center, the Webmasters won four gold medals.
